How much does it cost to rent a jet ski in Miami with us? You pay one rate per jet ski for a 60-minute guided free-ride on Biscayne Bay, and fuel is already in that rate. Tax and the marina fee are added when you check in at Pier 9, and a refundable damage deposit goes on a card. The live number for your date sits on our Miami jet ski rental page.

We keep dollar figures off this guide on purpose. The rate in the booking box can move from day to day, and a daily discount shows on the site when one is running, so any number printed here could be stale by the time you read it. What stays steady is the structure: what the rate covers, what joins it at the desk, and what is only held and then released.

That structure is what this guide walks through, line by line. You will see how the 1-seater and the 2-seater change the bill, how the yearly membership, combos and price match work, what happens to your money on a weather day, and how four kinds of groups usually end up paying. Read it once and the total on the jet ski rental booking page will make sense before you tap reserve.

What the jet ski rate pays for on the water

The rate on the booking box is priced per jet ski, and it buys one hour of riding. Here is what the activity page lists under "What's included":

  • A 60-minute guided ride inside the free-riding zone on Biscayne Bay
  • A safety briefing at the dock and a lead guide on the water
  • Life vests for everyone on the ski
  • Designated photo and break zones the guide points out during the briefing
  • Fuel, which the page says is included in every rate

A guided free-riding zone is an area with set boundaries where you ride on your own, with a guide supervising. You drive your own throttle the whole hour. The guides set safe speeds for the day's conditions and your experience.

Two rules affect value more than people expect. Once the ride starts, the group does not come back to shore until the hour ends, so you get the full hour on the water. And switching between skis mid-ride is not allowed, so if two friends each want to drive the whole time, that is two skis.

Tax and the marina fee. The activity page says both are added at check-in for every booking, whatever rate you booked at. Members pay them too. Treat the booking box figure as the ride, then expect these two lines on top when you pay at the marina.

The damage deposit. A refundable deposit goes on a card. The page says it is card only and is refunded unless there is a crash, damage or a policy violation. Once released, your bank can take up to 3 days to show it back on your account. As long as the ski comes back the way it left, that hold is released.

The booking hold. When you reserve online, a small amount per seat holds the booking, and the balance is paid at the marina. The booking box shows the exact hold for your date.

Costs that sit outside the rental itself

A few smaller items are worth planning for so the day has no surprises. None of them are part of the ski rate.

The state boating exam. Drivers born after January 1, 1988 have to pass a short online state exam. The activity page lists its fee. The FAQs ask you to finish the online waiver, and the exam if you need it, before you arrive so the reservation is valid. Our guide to jet ski rental requirements in Miami covers who needs it.

Parking. You park in Lot 62 and pay through the Pay By Phone app, a short walk from the dock. The policies page says parking tickets and vehicle theft are handled directly with Miami city authorities.

A waterproof phone case. Cases are for sale at check-in. Only cell phones are allowed on activities, so bring the minimum.

A private or custom ride. Private and customized jet ski tours run at a higher cost and are set up by email in advance.

Bring water, reef-safe sunscreen and swim attire from home. They are on the activity page's what-to-bring list, and having them with you saves a stop on the way. For more on packing, see what to pack for a jet ski day.

1-seater or 2-seater: how the ski changes the bill

Because the rate is per jet ski, the ski you pick decides how many rates you pay. You choose at booking, and the box shows the rate for each option.

  • 1-seater: one rider, up to 250 lb. One person, one ski, one rate.
  • 2-seater: two riders sharing one ski, up to 350 lb combined. The driver is 18 or older with a government photo ID, and the passenger is 6 or older.

Two people can ride one 2-seater or take two 1-seaters. One 2-seater means one ski rate, with one person driving the whole hour since swapping mid-ride is not allowed. Two 1-seaters mean two rates and two drivers, and each driver needs ID and, if born after January 1, 1988, the state exam.

The weight limits are firm. If a pair is close to 350 lb combined, two 1-seaters may be the only option, and that changes the cost. Check weights before you book on the jet ski rental in Miami page so you are matched to the right ski.

The member rate and the yearly membership

The booking box shows a member rate next to the regular one. That rate comes from our VIP Membership, a yearly pass sold on the membership page. Here is how it works, from that page:

★★★★★
“HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Customer service was absolutely perfect from check-in to check-out.”

  • The membership runs 365 days from the moment you buy it, with no blackout dates.
  • It covers every activity at Pier 9, jet ski single and double included.
  • Book online with the phone number you joined with, and the member rate applies on its own.
  • At check-in the desk matches the membership to your photo ID.
  • It is personal. It cannot be shared, lent or transferred.
  • It covers one member seat per activity per day. Anyone riding with you books at the standard rate.

The membership pays off for people who will ride more than once in a year, or who plan a two-activity day. The membership page itself makes that case with a parasail and jet ski day. For a single ride on a single visit, compare the membership price with the gap between the two rates in the booking box before you buy.

Tax and the marina fee still apply to members at check-in, and fuel is still included. The combos page and the membership page describe discount stacking for members differently, so check the live total on the Miami jet ski rental booking box before you pay rather than counting on a combined saving.

Combos: adding a second activity the same day

Guests picking up life vests at the rack before heading out
Guests picking up life vests at the rack before heading out

If you want more than the jet ski, the combos page bundles two or three activities on the same day at the same marina. Combo savings drop in on their own when you have two or more activities in the cart, whether you start from a combo card or from any activity page.

The jet ski combos listed today:

  1. 1Parasail and jet ski, in either order
  2. 2Jet ski and speed boat
  3. 3Flyboard and jet ski, in either order
  4. 4The Thrill Trio: jet ski, flyboard and parasail

Each combo card prices the jet ski as a 1-seater and lists its savings line by line, including the daily discount and a group discount. A combo also keeps the paperwork simple: one waiver, one parking spot and one credit-if-weather rule for everything you booked.

The fine print still applies to each part. The jet ski in a combo carries the same tax and marina fee at check-in and the same card deposit. Fuel stays included. For how a full jet ski and parasail day flows, see jet ski and parasailing on the same day.

Price match and the daily discount

Price match. The policies page sets out how we match a Miami competitor's deal. All of these have to be true:

  • You bring original proof of the deal to check-in.
  • The proof shows the company name, activity, duration, departure time, total price and fine print.
  • We can contact the competitor to verify it.
  • The competitor is based in Miami, Florida.
  • It is the same activity, option, day and time.
  • You are a walk-in. Price match is first come, first served.

Online deals count, Groupon included. Tubing, paddleboards, kayaks and Eclipse activities are excluded, and our own Groupon deals have to be bought on Groupon. The FAQs add that a price match does not combine with a booking you already paid for, so it is a walk-in tool and cannot be applied to an existing reservation.

The daily discount. When one is running, a banner across the site shows today's saving on every activity, and the combos page says it stacks with combo savings. Since it changes by day, the only reliable place to read it is the live site on the day you book.

Guided tour routes and private rides

The standard rental is the free-ride hour. If you want a set route across the bay with a lead guide, that is a separate product on the guided jet ski tours page, with its own prices.

The tour routes are Route A, a Sandbar loop; Route B, past Vizcaya, the Island Stop and the Sandbar; and Route C, out to Virginia Key, Fisher Island and Key Biscayne. Each route has its own per-ski price on the tours page, and the page says all safety gear is included. The same card-only damage deposit applies, with the same refund rule.

Tours need at least 2 skis. A couple on one ski would book the standard rental, while a group with two or more skis can choose either. Our jet ski tours guide has more on what each route feels like.

Paying at the dock: cards, ID and the forms

Payment rules are strict, so sort them out before you leave the hotel. From the policies and FAQs pages:

  • The FAQs list debit, credit or cash as accepted. The damage deposit is card only.
  • We do not accept American Express, online or at the dock.
  • Apple Pay, Apple Card and other digital wallets are not accepted.
  • Prepaid debit cards and gift cards are not accepted.
  • Cards need an embedded chip and the holder's full name printed on them.
  • The name on the card has to match the cardholder's government photo ID.
  • The cardholder has to be at check-in with the card used to book and a driver's license or passport.

If those documents are not presented in person, the booking becomes non-redeemable. If the original card cannot be verified, we collect a different form of payment.

Before the ride you fill in a card authorization form, and afterward you sign a completion invoice confirming the activity happened. The FAQs say the card and photo ID stay on file. Every participant signs the waiver, and a parent or guardian signs for anyone under 18.

Weather, late arrivals and what happens to what you paid

We run a strict no-refund policy, and every remedy is a credit or a reschedule.

Weather. Certified staff watch radar and call the conditions. Light rain is normal and we ride. Lightning never. If the weather cancels your jet ski, the activity page says you can reschedule to any future date or take a credit, both valid for 2 years, with no fee. Credits work toward any activity we offer. Moving a voucher to another person needs in-person approval from management at the dock, and vouchers have to be presented physically.

Delays. Departures run every 30 to 60 minutes, and weather or equipment can push a time back. The policies page treats delays under the same credit rule as cancellations.

Arriving late. Check in 15 minutes before departure. Missing your time makes the booking a no-show. The crew will try to fit you into a later slot that same day if one is open; otherwise you rebook for another day.

Four groups and how their bill comes together

Two riders on a jet ski heading toward the camera on the bay
Two riders on a jet ski heading toward the camera on the bay

These are typical bookings and the lines each one sees. Live rates come from the booking box; the structure is what matters here.

A couple sharing a ride. One 2-seater, one driver 18 or older with ID, combined weight up to 350 lb. That is one ski rate, plus tax, the marina fee and the deposit hold at check-in. If both want to drive, swapping is not allowed during the ride, so they book two 1-seaters and pay two rates.

A parent and a child. One 2-seater with the parent driving and a child of 6 or older riding. The child has to be able to hold on independently. The parent signs the waiver for the child. The bill is one ski rate plus tax, the marina fee and the deposit hold.

A family of four. Two adults, two kids aged 6 and up. Two 2-seaters, each with an adult driver. That means two ski rates, with tax, the marina fee and the deposit hold at check-in. If one parent holds a membership, the member rate covers that parent's seat only; the second ski books at the standard rate.

Four friends who all want to drive. Four 1-seaters, four rates, four drivers with ID, and the state exam for anyone born after January 1, 1988. Adding parasail or the speed boat for everyone turns it into a combo. If they walk in with a qualifying deal from a Miami operator, price match is open to them as walk-ins.

This is the order things happen, and where each charge lands.

  1. 1Open the booking box on the activity page and pick 1-seater or 2-seater, the number of skis, your date and a boarding window. The windows shown today are 10 AM to 12 PM, 12 to 2 PM and 2 to 4 PM.
  2. 2Check the rate. If you are a member, book with your member phone number and the member rate applies on its own.
  3. 3Pay the small hold per seat to secure the booking. The balance waits for the marina.
  4. 4Finish the online waiver and the state exam if a driver needs it, before you arrive.
  5. 5Park in Lot 62 with the Pay By Phone app and walk to Pier 9.

At the dock, the rest of the money side happens in a few minutes.

  1. 1Check in 15 minutes early with the card you booked on and a matching photo ID.
  2. 2Sign the card authorization form, pay the balance with tax and the marina fee, and let the desk place the deposit hold.
  3. 3Get your life vest and the safety briefing, then ride your 60 minutes.
  4. 4Sign the completion invoice when you are back on the dock.
  5. 5Watch for the deposit to come back. Your bank can take up to 3 days to process it.
